• Most Technical Experience: Started by scientists and physicians in 1996, as the Mt. Sinai Hospital based “Toronto Cord Blood Program” we released our first stem cells for transplant in 1997. We out grew our facilities and moved to a state-of-the-art processing and storage facility in Mississauga in 2004 changing our name in the process to the “Insception Cord Blood Program” but retaining our technical staff and close relationship with Mt. Sinai Hospital. Today we have processed and stored cord blood units from over 33,000 babies and are the largest and most experienced cord blood bank in Canada.

• Most Samples collected: Having collected the most samples, the Insception cord blood collection kit and process is the one most familiar to physicians and midwives across Canada. • Most Medical treatments: Insception has already released 18 family-banked cord blood units for medical treatments ranging from life-saving transplants for Leukemia, to life-changing treatments for Cerebral Palsy. Transplants are indicative of a high quality cord blood bank. The cell processing techniques and storage methods determine cell counts and cell viability. At any given time we have several patients being evaluated by transplant physicians for stem cell treatment.

Specialize in Cord Blood Banking

Consider a bank that specializes only in cord blood processing and is not using their processing and storage facilities to process and store other human tissues, such as sperm or ovum. Insception’s staff, equipment and facility is dedicated solely to the processing and storage of cord blood.

Insception provides you with a cord blood collection kit containing medical devices which have been licensed by Health Canada. We also provide a set of collection instructions that describe the method created and approved by the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC). This method was developed by SOGC to provide a safe and sterile procedure for the collection of as much cord blood as possible. Shortly after the birth of your baby your physician or midwife will collect the blood remaining in the umbilical cord in a sterile blood bag, a process that usually just takes a few minutes.

Upon arrival at Insception, your baby’s cord blood will be processed and stored using methods that have been inspected and accredited by the AABB. The AABB is an international accreditation agency for Cellular Therapy and Blood Transfusion Services and publishes the “Standards for Cellular Therapy Product Services”. The AABB only accredits those cord blood banks which meet their very high standards of compliance.
