7-Month-Old Receives Cord Blood Transplant
On Christmas Day, 28-day-old Molly Campbell was diagnosed with leukemia. The fast-moving disease spread through her body at an alarming rate and her parents were told to prepare for the worst. Now seven months later and Molly underwent a cord blood transplant on June 23rd.
Early in June, Molly began an intensive round of chemotherapy that lasted for ten days. The brave baby then rested for two days before receiving her cord blood transfusion. It is too early to tell how success the transplant was, but her parents and doctors are hopeful that she will persevere.
It has been a tough time for the Campbell family, as they have also had to deal with financial problems, as well. With four other children in the family, getting by has been difficult. Before Molly fell ill, dad David worked to support the family on one income. Now, he and his wife, Rebekah must be at Molly’s side at all times.
Due to the size of their family, David and Rebekah were told that they would have a hard time getting help from Ronald McDonald House and other family support organizations. As such, friends of the family have created a trust account for the Campbell’s to aid with any financial problems they are having.
