Couple Stores ‘Miracle Baby’s’ Cord Blood

Victoria and Roberto Terrazzano never thought that they would be able to have children. Due to Victoria’s serious health condition, the couple was advised against attempting to conceive. However, after taking the risk and going for it, the couple gave birth to their “little miracle” named Luca. Not taking any chances with their child’s health, they decided to bank his cord blood to help secure a healthy future for Luca.

When Victoria was just 12-years-old, she sustained a back injury that would leave her scarred for life. She was barred from taking part in many of the rituals that take place in a young woman’s life, specifically child-bearing. Her doctors informed her that she getting pregnant would likely result in paralysis.

After marrying Robert in 2002,Victoria was desperate to start a family and took the biggest risk of her life. While she did not become paralyzed, she suffered two miscarriages and was forced to abort the third pregnancy.

Fortunately, the fourth time was a success, as Victoria carried the pregnancy to term. Having lost three children previously, the Terrazzanos decided to take out an insurance policy in the event that their child would fall ill. As such, they did their research and registered for a cord blood banking program.

“I know that a lot of research is being done, that stem cells are being more widely used”, says Victoria. “I believe in 10 years’ time, such treatment will be even more effective”.

Luca was born on April 1st, 2011, at which time his cord blood was collected and sent to a storage facility. A healthy baby boy, Luca’s parents hope that they will not have to use his cord blood sample, but they are grateful that they made the decision to bank it.
