Two Leukemia Patients Receive Cord Blood Transplants

Two children from Georgia, USA have experienced incredible results from cord blood transplants they underwent years ago. About five years ago, Wade Wolfe  and 10-year-old Blake Spivey both received cord blood transplants, and the boys are happy to report living healthy lives today.

Blake was diagnosed with leukemia from a young age. He started experience back pain before fever and night sweats led doctors to diagnose him with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The disease was aggressive and, after three months of chemotherapy, his doctors decided that something more would need to be done in order to save the child’s life.

Blake received his cord blood transplant in 2006 and has seen impressive results. Today, he is Cancer-free, and lives life like any other 10-year-old boy. In a similar case, Wade Wolfe was diagnosed with leukemia in 2006. After a cord blood transplant, he went into remission in 2007 and has been Cancer-free ever since.

These are two exemplary cases of the benefits of cord blood transplants. Umbilical cord blood can be incredibly effective in the treatment of leukemia, and stories like this highlight the benefits of banking and donating your children’s cord blood.
