Saskatchewan native, 28-year-old Kyle Allan plans to travel to Malaysia next month for what he and his family hope will be a life changing stem cell treatment.

Suffering from Common Variable Immune Deficiency and Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, Allan lives with debilitating fatigue and a failing liver. He spends close to 18 hours a day in bed.

When his girlfriend, Valerie Blais, set up a gofundme.com campaign to fund Allan’s trip, they never dreamed that the campaign would do as well as it has. To date, they have raised more than $60,000 – more than enough to cover the cost of the trip and treatment.

The innovative stem cell treatment that Allan will be pursuing uses the injection of MSCs to encourage the liver to heal itself. The treatment has been used in Malaysia for five years and is considered to have an 85% chance of success.
