Diagnosed with leukaemia in 2013, former Kitchener Dutchman, John Divo, has finally received the answer to his prayers.
After a long search, Divo has found a stem cell match for the transplant that could save his life.
The Divo family knows little about the donor apart from his age and the fact that he’s a hero to them.
Late Thursday night, after months of waiting, Divo got a stem cell transplant.
“You take a lot of things for granted in life,” said John Divo’s father through tears. “It’s hard. It’s tough.”
Even after the transplant, the Divo family know that recovery won’t be easy and things could get worse before they get better. Regardless, John’s family will be by his side as he begins the healing process.
