Good news for stem cell research in Ontario! In the next five years, Ontario will be investing $25 million dollars in stem cell research. It is the hope that this research will support a growing list of treatments for chronic diseases like cancer, MS and diabetes.

The Ontario Institute for Regenerative Medicine in Toronto will be the recipient of the funding.  This major endowment puts Ontario head and shoulders ahead of other provinces and countries when in comes to stem cell and regenerative medicine research.

The province also hopes to attract more international clinical trials and private sector investment thanks to its new leadership role in this arena.

The funding was first announced in the 2015 budget.
